  • 1951

    Harvey Lyman and five partners formed Ag Chemicals Inc. to serve growers in the Sacramento River Delta area of California. Their third warehouse and office in Walnut Grove now house the Lyman Group Farm Parts Store and maintenance shop operations.

  • 1954

    Harvey Lyman Chemicals Established

  • 1957

    Harvey opens a second location in Clarksburg to serve more customers. The Walnut Grove operation was known as Harvey Lyman Chemicals, and the Clarksburg Operation was known as Harvey Lyman Agservice.

  • 1963

    Harvey Lyman Chemicals and Harvey Lyman Agservice were incorporated as individual companies, but essentially worked as a team to serve an expanding grower base throughout the Delta.

  • 1974

    Les Lyman, Harvey’s son, returned home to the company on a full-time basis in 1974. Already grounded in Harvey’s philosophy of grower service and the importance of valued employees, Les brought a sensible growth mentality to the business. He added innovation and a philosophy of wise investments for continuous service improvement and better pricing into ongoing business operations.

  • 1977

    The company completed their first acquisition, acquiring the Pezzaglia Nursery operations in Rio Vista. The acquisition helped the company move further into the liquid and dry fertilizer business.

  • 1979

    The acquisition of J. M. Buckley Ag Service in Courtland represented an investment in custom dry fertilizer blending and liquid fertilizer manufacturing. The operation was moved to the Harvey Lyman Ag Service location in Clarksburg shortly after acquisition.

  • 1980

    The acquisition of Sacramento County Farm Supply in Wilton, CA broadened the company’s service area throughout the Galt and Elk Grove areas.

  • 1991

    IAP was formed to guarantee the economic viability of the independent agricultural chemical distributor/dealer. Through IAP, The Lyman Company, Inc. was able to maximize purchasing positioning agricultural input market place.

  • 1995

    Tremont Supply, Inc. acquired Agriform Farm Supply with a plant in Woodland, and retail sales offices in Woodland and Pleasant Grove. Agriform also had a sales office in Geyserville which previously operated under the name Agro-Tech.

  • 1997

    TSI earns the Environmental Respect National Award.

  • 1999

    The Tremont Group, Inc. acquired Growers Ag Service, Inc. with retail sales offices in Dixon, Tudor and Sonoma.

  • 2001

    The Tremont Group, Inc. purchases Walnut Grove Transports in Dixon. Walnut Grove Transports is now part of TSI Trucking.

  • 2003

    The AgriSource operation in Maxwell was formed by The Lyman Group and began operations throughout Northern CA.

  • 2008

    Ag Unlimited was acquired, broadening the company’s Northern California coastal and inland service areas.

  • 2010

    The Harvey Lyman Company, Walnut Grove, earns the Environmental Respect State Award.

  • 2011

    The Tremont/Lyman Groups earn the Ag Retailer of The Year Award.

  • 2012

    Inland Terminal, a 60,000-ton liquid and dry storage facility, was complete.

  • 2013

    Tremont Engineering was founded to broaden service areas

  • 2014

    Growers Ag Service, Yuba City, earns the Environmental Respect State Award.

  • 2016

    The Tremont Group Inc. is recognized as a national agribusiness leader in Homeland Securities Act compliance and sound environmental operations.

  • 2019

    Our brands have created a rich history of serving customers to help them maximize their potential. Going forward we are Grow West. Grow West is the recognition that today we have to be more prepared than anyone to overcome the challenges agriculture in California can present. Which is only possible when we are all unified under one name, pushing for the same outcome, to maximize grower’s profitability while minimizing our impact on the environment.

  • 2019

    Grow West acquired Clark Trucking Service, Inc. in Sacramento, CA

  • 2020

    Grow West acquired Hammer Trucking Inc. in Lodi, CA.

  • 2021

    Grow West acquired WaterLabs broadening the company’s service to include orchard irrigation technology and consulting services in the Northern Sacramento Valley.

  • 2023

    Grow West Soils Manufacturing is complete, adding scalable custom soil blending to the company’s services.

  • 2024

    Grow West Trucking School opens.
